The Bride & Groom

The Bride

Jo dressed as Sid from the Sex Pistols

Jo was brought up in Birmingham, but moved to Manchester in 1995 to read Law at the University of Manchester. She immediately joined MUGSS where she spent many happy years appearing in shows, directing, making costumes, organising Society Holidays, being on the committee and throwing outrageous parties. It was during her time in MUGSS (and on her first Society Holiday) that Jo met Al.

Her student days now a distant memory, Jo continues to do theatrical "stuff", now with South Manchester Amateur Operatic Society, for whom she has appeared in shows such as "Oklahoma!", "West Side Story" and "Fiddler on the Roof". Jo is also a member of the Northenden Players Theatre Club.

By the way, post wedding, Jo's not changing her name to King. These days married women are allowed to own property, have jobs and even vote! Golly! Anyway, post addressed to Mrs Alasdair King (harharhar) or Jo King (careful, we might die laughing) will be Returned To Sender! No really, we mean it!

Jo can be contacted at jo@aljo.org.uk.

Alasdair moved to Manchester from his native Callander in Scotland (near Stirling) in 1992, to study for a degree in Genetics in Manchester. Following graduation he spent a year in labs in London before returning to Manchester in 1996 to rejoin MUGSS, and meet Jo on a Society holiday.

Al is also a member of SMAOS and Northenden Players, having appeared in a number of shows for each playing roles as diverse as Les in "Bouncers", Ali Hakim the Persian peddlar in "Oklahoma!" and Gerald the upper class twit in "Me & My Girl".

Al is currently working for UMIST (soon to be merged into the University of Manchester) as a research assistant in Computation, where he is studying for a PHD and writes software for blind people.

Al can be contacted at al@aljo.org.uk.
